Indoor Environment

". . . the design of more sophisticated buildings of the future, as well as renovation of existing buildings, will require the architect to have a thorough understanding, and often a working knowledge, of the many elements necessary for a quality indoor environment."
—from the monograph

Indoor Environment was revised and updated in 2000. Originally published in 1994, the monograph explores the still timely subject of indoor environmental quality.

Features

  • The monograph succinctly defines a healthful indoor environment as one which promotes the comfort, health, and sense of well-being of all who live, work, or play within its boundaries.
  • Discussions focus on the significant and wide-ranging effects of unhealthful indoor environments that are broadly divided into health-related effects and economic effects.
  • Because architects can determine the quality of an indoor environment, the monograph presents practical guidelines for designing healthful indoor environments in new buildings and for correcting problems in existing facilities.
