How Much Does IDP Cost?

Note: All fees are subject to change, and are non-refundable unless otherwise noted.

Intern Application Fee: $350

This fee keeps your Record active for the first three years and includes one free transmittal of your Record for initial registration.

Student or Recent Graduate (within 6 months): $100 to start + $250 later

If you are a student or have graduated within six months of when you establish an NCARB Record, you may split the application fee into two payments. You may pay $100 when you establish your Record. The balance of $250 will be due when you are ready to have your Record transmitted to a jurisdiction or when you request an Authorization to Test for the Architect Registration Examination® (ARE®).

Intern Annual Renewal Fee: $75

There is an annual renewal fee assessed after the first three years. It costs $75 each year to maintain an active Record until you become registered.

Please note: If your Record remains continuously active until you receive your initial license, NCARB will waive the Certificate Application Fee of $1,500 (below). In addition, your Certificate Renewal Fee will be half price for the first three years. Learn the benefits of keeping your Record active.

If you have let your Record lapse for any amount of time as an intern and wish to reactivate your Record as an intern, you will be subject to the $75 annual renewal fee for each year or fraction of a year from the date your Record expired, up to a maximum of $425 (equivalent to the $350 Intern Application Fee + a $75 Intern Annual Renewal Fee).

Note: All fees are subject to change, and are non-refundable unless otherwise noted.
