Value of NCARB Monographs
NCARB Monographs Series
In more than 40 jurisdictions, architects must earn continuing education credits in order to renew their registration. Additionally, all AIA members are required to have 12 hours of professional development in health, safety, and welfare and four hours of professional development in sustainable design as part of the existing 18-hour annual continuing education requirement for AIA membership renewal.
NCARB monographs are one of the most cost-effective ways for architects to fulfill their state and AIA continuing education requirements. Choose from more than 25 titles that explore a wide range of current and emerging topics of interest—from sustainable design to fire safety in buildings to professional conduct to acoustics.
NCARB Monographs Are...
Convenient. You can read them anywhere—during your commute, when you are stuck on a layover, or in the comfort of your home. Take the online, open-book quiz whenever you are ready. You’ll get your results immediately. If you pass, you can print your own certificate of completion. (And if you don’t pass, you get one free retake!)
Flexible. Each monograph provides an opportunity for you to earn from two to 20 professional development units (PDUs)/continuing education units (CEUs). Some monographs offer multiple quizzes, which gives you the flexibility to earn smaller quantities of PDUs at a time. And, all credits awarded through the NCARB monograph series meet AIA’s health, safety, and welfare (HSW) and sustainable design (SD) continuing education requirements.
Affordable. At about $15 per credit hour for NCARB Record holders, monographs are truly an affordable way to meet your state and AIA continuing education requirements. There are no seminars to attend, no travel expenses, no time away from the office. NCARB even reports your passing score to the AIA at no cost.
A Valuable Resource. All NCARB monographs are written by experts in their fields and explore topics relevant to your practice.
